The time I've spent with Boundless during my Building Leaders and Creators (BLAC) program has truly been a great experience. From day one, I was onboarded by a team of experienced and creative marketers who made me feel welcomed and prepared to take on my new role as an account services intern. My manager, Fabiola Laureano, helped me adjust to my new role by explaining new terminology, assigning tasks to sharpen my skills, and even scheduling a weekly check-in with me.

One of my primary duties was to organize assets and apply feedback on slide deck presentations, where I learned the value of organization. I even saw one of the presentations I helped edit be presented to the client live.

In addition to the job skills I improved during my internship, I was also able to make some great connections. My coworkers were happy to schedule one-on-one meetings with me, when I was able to ask questions about their industry experience and get advice that will help me in my future career endeavors. These conversations were important to me because I got honest answers and advice about the industry that I don’t think I could have gotten anywhere else.

Last, but not least, collaborating with my fellow intern, Simeon, to create a post for the company blog was one of my favorite aspects of my internship. This allowed us to work on a project at the same time, which I loved. I am so grateful for the amazing experience of having my words appear on the Boundless blog page and the time and energy my peers gave to me as an intern.

Being able to work at Boundless this summer through the BLAC program as an art direction intern has not only been an amazing learning experience and opportunity but has also reignited my love for creative work in general.

Coming off the end of sophomore year as a graphic design major, I was worried about what a creative degree could offer me in the job market. That was when a senior mentor and past Boundless intern, Brelynn, told me about the BLAC internship program. The BLAC mission to nurture Black talent in advertising immediately caught my eye, and I applied. The advice and encouraging words of the BLAC guest panelists the week prior to my start at Boundless gave me the toolkit necessary to navigate the entirety of this internship.

In my short but impactful time working at Boundless, I have witnessed firsthand the strong bonds and teamwork that make Boundless the incredible advertising firm it is. I remember how nervous I was my first week and the imposter syndrome I felt. That was quickly dispelled through the help of my supervisor, Tsian Beddoe, who has been an invaluable mentor throughout my time at Boundless, helping me grow as an aspiring professional and a creative thinker. I also must give flowers to the entire Boundless creative team, who gave their time, wisdom, and camaraderie whenever I needed help or had questions.

Through the multiple meetings and projects, I was able to get a full understanding of what daily advertising life is like, learning and adapting to the pace of agency life. I had the opportunity to work on multiple concepting projects for campaigns at different stages of their development, and my favorite part was the initial concepting phase, when we could start creating the world surrounding the campaigns.

To everyone, thank you for the amazing opportunity to be a part of the Boundless family this summer!
